Hi everyone! Today we’re going to take a look at rejoicing.
In 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 it says; “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
I know that occasionally times get so tough and that it seems like you can’t escape your problems. I know the feeling of just being so depressed and when there are so many problems that it just doesn’t seem like there’s anything to be thankful for or to smile about. We’ve all been there at one time or another, but God’s Word says to “Rejoice always.” It doesn’t say to just rejoice whenever you think of something to be happy for, it says always.
Now this doesn’t mean that you should be happy that you broke your leg or that you failed a test – it just means that even in the hard times, there are still reasons to rejoice. For example, you could rejoice that you didn’t die when you fell and broke your leg. And even though you failed that test, you can rejoice that you have such awesome parents or friends who can help you to study and understand your work better.
And of course, you can always rejoice that you have a Heavenly Father who loves you no matter what and catches you when you fall.
The Word also says to “pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks.” Now, praying without ceasing seems like it would take a lot of practice, and a way to practice is by praying more and more each day. You don’t have to pray only when you’re having your Bible time or when you sit down to eat your food. You can pray any time, any place.
And when you pray, make sure that you aren’t only asking for things. Thank God for what He has given you. Your family, friends, your talents, everything! Everything you have has been given to you by God, so we should be sure to thank Him daily for His blessings 🙂
